Africa Day Celebrations

Africa DayFurther to the success of Africa Day 2008 and 2009, Irish Aid, the Government's overseas development programme, is delighted to once again support two flagship events to mark Africa Day in Ireland in 2010.

The theme for this year's events is food and food security with activities providing the public with the opportunities to learn more about food security and Ireland's lead role in the international response to the challenge of global hunger.

Irish Aid would like to cordially invite all of our development partners and people throughout Ireland to join this celebration of African music, dance, film, history, art, social and political life and much more for Africa Day.

Details of the events are as follows:

  1. Africa Day Dublin in Iveagh Gardens (off Harcourt Street), Dublin 2 on Sunday, 16th May 2010.
  2. Africa Day Limerick in the grounds of Limerick City Hall, Merchant's Quay, Limerick on Sunday, 30th May 2010.

Events to celebrate Africa Day are also happening all around the country. Find out about events happening in your area by visiting: www.africaday.irishaid.org

All Africa Day events are open to all members of the public and are free of charge.

Looking forward to seeing you at an Africa Day event soon!
