Our C.S.P.E Action Projectby Emma Ferguson For our C.S.P.E action project we did a fundraiser for a school in Uganda called ‘Precious College’. With the money we raised from the fundraiser we bought school stationary and sent it away along with Chirstmas cards to ‘Precious College’ in Uganda. They wrote us all a letter thanking us for the school stationary and the card. We are now part of World Wise also. World Wise is were other schools come together to talk about their project and what school they are working with in Africa. While we are there we also do workshops. In these workshops we have learnt about: how everyone has different opinions but that doesn’t mean yours is right, we learnt about how women and children have no rights and how badly treated they are. For our C.S.P.E action project we chose to send stationary to a school in uganda ! called Precios College.
Our Fundraising idea was to run a non-uniform day here in our school Crana College With the money we raised from the non-uniform day we bought stationary to send away to percious college they were so thankful each student wrote to each one of us thanking us and telling us how much it means to them and telling us what its like to live in Uganda . we now no what its like and just how hard it is for them to live in Uganda . We also are now part of an association called world wise.It is were four schools came together to show us and eachother there projects to . we went to two inter school work shops
Precious Links with Uganda
Our class is 2D from Crana College and we have linked up with Precious College School in Kampala, Uganda. We made initial contact through the society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) who have been helping the school for many years and now we are in regular contact with the students ourselves.
So far we have been in contact with the school by email only. We decided to send small gifts to some of the students in the school so we organised Non-uniform Day on 23rd of November. After emailing the students we have been told that school stationary would be the best type of gifts to send.
We will soon be making contact with students the same age as us by writing to them personally. We will do this as an exercise to learn more about what life is like in Uganda compared to life here. Here are some photos of when the students visited in July.
